ABOUT INGRID FORBREGD

Ingrid Forbregd (b. 1977) is an artist living in Lillehammer, Norway. She paints abstractly and intuitively, and uses colors, shapes and patterns to create different emotions, expressions and moods.

She has been actively painting since 2017, but creativity has been a natural part of her life for as long as she can remember.

AN EARLY ENCOUNTER WITH ART

One of her first strong art experiences came when she was a child on a school trip to Maihaugen. There she encountered the large paintings of Jacob Weidemann – canvases in blue and white that stretched from floor to ceiling and were filled with light.

The experience made a strong impression and sparked a fascination with color, light, and space that still characterizes the way she works with paintings.

THE PROCESS

Ingrid works intuitively and lets the images develop layer by layer. She often paints several images at the same time, and experiences the painting process as a meditative place where she finds peace and freedom to explore colors, shapes and expressions.

THE WORKS

Her paintings are abstract, but in some of them there is also a touch of something concrete. She is concerned with bringing out light, color play and contrasts in the images.

She draws inspiration from nature, colors, interiors and, not least, people's lives. The images are painted with acrylic on large canvases, and invite the viewer to encounter them with their own experiences and interpretations.
