NÆRVÆR – inspired by moonlight

Some paintings are about things we can put into words. Others are about things we can only feel. NÆRVÆR is one of those paintings.
I have always been fascinated by the moon.
Not only because it is beautiful, but because it reminds me how much we still do not know. It influences the oceans, nature, and the rhythms around us in ways we can measure.
At the same time, people throughout history have connected it to something greater—to love, life cycles, hope, and the things that cannot always be explained.
My grandmother used to say that you should take moonlit walks to preserve love.
It was her best advice.
Perhaps that is why the moon has always held a special place in my heart.
NÆRVÆR was born from a moment I will never forget. I remember standing beneath the moon, watching its light dance across the sky in colours that almost seemed unreal. It was one of those moments when time stands still and you feel connected to something greater than yourself.
It is difficult to explain.
And perhaps it does not need to be explained. But it had to be painted.
To me, NÆRVÆR is about connections. Between people. Between memories and the present moment. That is why the painting was given its name.
Because it is about being close—not necessarily in a physical sense, but on a deeper level.
The original painting was created with acrylic on canvas and is so precious to me that it is not for sale.
However, I have made it available as a fine art print in several sizes for those who feel a connection to it.
What does NÆRVÆR mean to you? I always find it fascinating to hear how others experience my paintings, so feel free to leave a comment below. 💙
